40PROOF2: Loftons cassette $5

Loftons - vivid girl by 40PROOF

"From the barren Stockton, CA, four piece Loftons offer a mixed bag in their first release 'Murked' that exceeds the noise played out by so bands whose prominence is questionably deserved. Bestowing us with six genuine cuts, this album does anything but sit still. From the danceable surfy riffs on “Vivid Girl” to the more melancholy croon of “Breathe”, Loftons treat us to an album too versatile for one stand-out jam. To throw a genre on this does it no justice, yet confirms that the Loftons are not to be dismissed to the mundane wave of junk released this year. " - Marc Matchak, Codeine sipper/Bong ripper.

40PROOF1: Pistol Pete cd-r $2

Pistol pete - Napalm by 40PROOF

"With nods to fellow West Coast destroyers like Monoshock and Hospitals, the Sacto-trio Pistol Pete dip their debut tape in loud, reverb-laden, and noisy punk with psychedelic overtones. Recorded completely live with only overdubbed bass, and geared towards deliberate intensity and mood, not meaning, the vibe is aggressive only in its insistently laid-back teenage take on whatever influences made it through the garage door on the day the six tracks were recorded. Member Antonio is also involved with Fine Steps, a new sacto band including Mayyors and Ganglians, and a punk band called the Squidz. Gabe likes to hitchhike and travel, and Adam sat in on bass." - Morten, Skrot Up Records.
